I was planning on picking up a wet/dry filter I found on CL for cheap, but then I started reading and confusing myself some more lol. Do you run a wet/dry with a protein skimmer? Just the skimmer? I understand all of it except the filtration process, any help would be greatly appreciated.

All I use is a skimmer with filter pads in my sump.

If you have plenty of live rock then all you need is a skimmer. That is the only filtration I have had for 14+ yrs now.

I use mine with a pad and some pieces of rock in the sump and rock in the tank with a skimmer
