What causes these ugly things and how to get rid of them? DP

Excess nutrients (phosphates/nitrAtes) in your tank.
How often/much/what are you feeding?
How long are you running your lights?
What are your water parameters?
Have you tested your source water and SW before adding to the tank?

All tanks have algae, you can never get rid of it completely. All you can do is reduce the growth rate or change which type is growing. Most people gear thier tanks to promote Coraline growth, becuase it is pretty.
