brass, there was three different sections at HD.

One was the ABS toilet section (skipped that) this was the section with copper
one was the gardening hose/ watering section (skipped that) this was the section with pvc
went to the section that sold tubes and pipes for ro/di drinking systems section.

Just finishing setting up the QT 10g,

Put 4 cups of instant ocean into the qt (it says 1/2 per gallon) Did the reading with refractometer i got 1.020.

So all i got in there now is the penguin 100 biowheel without the carbonfilter. and a heater. (for now i have like 3 powerheads to mix the salt)

I noticed some salt sank to the bottom and i tried mixing it but theres still a little left.

So i guess ill throw a cocktail shrimp in there tonight and do some readings on friday.

The test kit i got has two ammonia tests (master test kit). Not sure which one to use...

Think CaptainAhab is correct on your ammonia test - if it's an API test, then you have two bottles to use. 8 drops of bottle 1 in 5 ml of salt water, then 8 drops of bottle 2. Cover and shake. Wait 5 minutes. Read color.

Regarding your QT setup, think you've witnessed why it's good to premix your salt outside the tank - some stuff just doesn't dissolve. But it won't hurt your QT setup.

Talk about clairvoyant.. I was just getting ready to ask if anyone knew the size of the test tubes for the API kits. Broke a few (opps) and need replacements.. Spooky

Sorry for the diversion, back to your regularly scheduled test kit update
