And I have nitrites! The purple test tube actually showed up faster than I though it would (especially since I didn't use any seeding material).

Even though I have nitrites, is it normal to see no drop in my ammonia? It's still reading 4ppm.

I believe it can take a few days to see the ammonia drop after Nitrites have appeared

Yep, sometimes there's a lag time, nothing to worry about. The showing of nitrites is a great sign, and very soon too!

Yeah, I'm pretty excited! I thought it would have taken longer than a week to show up. I was just expecting it the other way around and having to dose ammonia back up before seeing nitrites.
