Ammonia issues

I'm trying to start fresh with my 5.5 gallon tank, since my fish succumbed to ick. But I can't find anywhere to buy pure ammonia anymore, and fish food is not upping the ammonia levels like I hoped it would (I've been trying ground-up fish flakes for three days now, and ammonia has only gone up to 1 ppm). Advice?

Sorry if this doesn't help you but I've seen a lot of people buying it at ACE Hardware if you have one near you.

There are no Ace Hardwares in my area. Canadian Tire used to have it, but they don't anymore and now I'm stuck. I've called just about every place that I can think of trying to find pure ammonia, and no one seems to stock it.

Just make sure it is pure ammonia, no additives.

I couldn't find any Ace Ammonia around me so I ended up ordering online. Not sure how that would work in Canada though.
