i was wondering...

if you are cycling with fish..
do u still need to feed the fish???

my question is: does a fish still produce ammonia if they do NOT eat??

if you "starve" the fish..will they produce ammonia???

the reason i ask is because:
i was thinking of feeding my fish every 3 days..
on days when i do NOT feed...will ammonia still be produced??
and if i feed very little...will there be enough ammonia to cycle the tank??

Fish poop is what the cycle needs. Feed them normally (daily)--they are under enough stress living thru a cycle already. Why not just fishless cycle?

I certainly hope you would feed your fish through a cycle. If they don't eat, they won't create the pooh (food for your bacteria) for your bacteria to grow. Small amounts, once or twice daily is good.

Be sure not to overfeed though, keep up with your water testings and water changes when necessary.

If you haven't added the fish yet, I would hightly recommend you do a fishless cycle too. So, so much easier to do.
