Does a combination of a bio-filter and a small canister filter in a 55 gal. make any sense. I was looking to have a strong water flow for Hillstream loaches. I thought a the canister would offer more benefits than a submersible fountain pump. Just getting started after a 20 year absence. The world has changed since my old under gravel filter days

Yes, know what you mean - the old ugf is gone (and it was so high tech at one stage
