How much substrate for a 29 gallon tank?

Hi guys,

For a newbie which substrate is better to start a planted tank among these two.
1. ADA substrate
2.Contro substrate

I want to start a planted tank and I want to know up to how much height and how much quantity in liters the ADA/Contro substrate need to be added to my 29 gallon tank.

2 9L bags I believe for ~3". If you do a search for substrate calculator one should be easy to use.

I am not familiar with the Contro substrate.
