Hi!
I am half way through a fishless cycling (2 weeks now) and my ammonia gets down pretty quickly by now, from 4 to 1 in 24h. My nitrites are off scale (have been for the past 5 days) but no sign of nitrates yet. I did a 50% water change to keep things moving but nitrites are still off scale after this. Should I keep them like that or shall I try to. Ring them down a little? In the guide here doesn't say is detrimental but in Dr. Tim guide it says that very high nitrite levels can inhibit the cycle.
Any comments please? Or just patience... Thank you!!

You're supposed to keep the nitrites high until the nitrates show up and when BOTH of these are off the charts is when you can do a water change. That's my understanding anyway. Someone who knows wiser, please chime in if I'm wrong.
