Plecos

Hi since I got my plecos I have notice that they sometimes change colour is this normal.

What kind of Pleco and what size tank? Is it cycled? Tank mates? What are your water parameters (nitrate, nitrite, ammonia)?

I've read they can change color depending on mood, surroundings, and stress. You want to eliminate the stress factor though, hence my questions above.

My ammonia is 0, nitrite is 0, and nitrate is 5.

Mine change color all the time, not all over, just parts of him. He changes depending on his mood. I would have to say its normal as long as everything else is fine.

They change color depending on mood, first mine was black, now he's brown and has shades of tan as well.

Yeah they seem to go light when i turn the lights on.

I have noticed that the lighting sometimes has an affect on them. Never seemed to be a problem with mine but it did get me concerned a few times.
