Hello wut...

Florescent lighting is very inexpensive, but you'll need at least 2 bulbs to get anything from your plants. I have a couple of 55 G tanks that I light with GE aquarium plant bulbs from the hardware store. They're $10.00 each and last well over a year. You can get 32 watt, T8s or 40 watt, T12s. Both will work for plants that require low to moderate light and there are quite a few plants that grow well in more subdued lighting.
