I got a BC last wednesday (5 days ago) and installed him alone in my QT. He's very timid, hiding under a rock all day. I've tried all manner of foods, garliced them, everything, he doesn't *seem* to eat anything, at least I haven't seen him feeding...

Question is, how long could he survive without eating, after which I can conclude that he's eating on the sly?

TIA for any opinions

It is sometimes difficult to get these guys to eat, especially if they are wild caught specimins. Tank bred banggai are usually pretty eager feeders. Is he alone in the tank? They can be easily intimidated by other fish.

If there is rock in your quarantine, with pods, he may be eating those. I have had banggai that refused all foods and did not make it. As for how long, that is up to the fish...

Thanks for the heads-up. He's alone and there's no live rock, so I guess I'll just have to sit it out.
