I got a RBTA a week ago. It has looked like the attached picture for the whole time. I fed it a silverside a few days ago, ate it right up.
I just did a PWC, about 15%.
I removed a Pocillopora frag, a zoo frag, a frogspawn frag, and pulled a piece of xenia off a piece of LR. Took to LFS for some credit.

I get back (maybe a half hour) and the RBTA is about halfway closed up and deflated. Within 5 minutes its completely deflated and retracted to a hump.....!!!!!!!??????

What the heck happened? Did removing the frags cause some sort of problem?

I checked params:

Temp: 79-80
pH: 8.3
PO3/4: 0 ppm
Cu: 0 ppm
NO3: 20 ppm
NO2: 0 ppm
NH3/4: 0 ppm
Alk: 7 dKH
Ca: 380 ppm
SG: 1.025

The PWC SW's SG was identical to the tank.

It dont have to be just the salinity. If the temp was different or the PH way different these could have been factors also. It could also be in an area he does not like. Give it a day and lets see what happens.

Did you feed it a whole silverside? How many days ago?

There could have been any thing on your hands, a temp difference, etc. anything like Mike said. I say give it some time to turn around too.

Best of luck. :)
