My female betta's belly has been protruding abnormally for a few days so I thought it could be constipation so I have been fasting her for about a day and a half but then I noticed my other female In the same tank has developed the same issue. I don't believe it's dropsy cause their scales aren't raised and their swim patterns are just fine. I've heard that sometimes this will happen if they see a male near by but I don't know if it's because there is a male right next door or what. I need help diagnosing so I can prevent further problems.

They are probably both eating the same food, and overeating. Betta's are fun to feed but at such little piggies!

Try feeding pea for 2 weeks. Nothing else. Blanch a few peas, remove the skin and chop into very fine pieces. It should last you a few days in the fridge.
