Hi everyone! Happy (almost) New Year.


So I purchased a betta at Petsmart yesterday. I acclimated him correctly in my 5 gallon tank using the floating method (had a wonderful yellow betta in it previously , died when my family moved last month).
I left him alone all night yesterday, and checked on him this morning to find him dead . There was a white cottony material surrounding his head, which I think is fungus right?

Anyway, I was just wondering how will the fungus affect my aquarium and any other betta that may go in it in the future. Is it contagious? Thanks in advanced.

More than likely no there is no future issues, but since the tank is so small you could easily break it down and rinse everything in a 1:10 bleach solution to be sure.
