Hey guys, i've been a dedicated fish lover and keeper my whole life. I have a 40 gallon cichlid setup right now and hope to upgrade soon. My brother has had a betta for a while now and I have had to change the water the whole time he's had it. I left on a trip to Romania for a month and came back to see that the fish is bloated just behind the head. Besides water changes, is there really anything that can be done?

Other than the "bloat" is he behaving normally, eating? Does he get fasted? I'm guessing his water is probably not heated? The clean water will definitely help & he really needs a heater if he doesn't have one.

He seems pretty normal. I feed him a pinch of flakes once a day and bloodworms twice a week. I'm going to get him a larger tank, filter, and heater.
