This morning I saw this sick ember tetra. As far as I can tell, it's the only one of a dozen or so embers that has this problem. Water change schedule is 25% every 3 days. Parameters ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 5.

Is there any tight spots in your tank, maybe he just got stuck. You can but in stress coat to help him

When I got home from work the larger of the sores was more smoothed out, but the smaller sore was protruding more. It doesn't look like fungus. Ulceration maybe?

I've done a 50% water change and took the sick guy out for a salt bath. I added the recommended dose of artemiss to the tank and put the sick fish back into the tank, but in a fry net so I can more easily monitor him. See how we go.

I would move him out of the net, the net is going to put alot of stress on him which will lower his immune system

Did a small water change to reduce the temp a little and add the 2nd dose of Artemis.

He's looking really good- both sores have smoothed out, and he is lively enough. I released him from the hatchery and he rejoined his school and is eating.

RIP little Ember Tetra :-(
Sorry to hear that..

BTW I think your fish had the neon tetra fish disease...
I don't know much about your species of fish, but all tetras can get it.It starts as cysts on the body(whiteish bulge or lump)Unfortunatley there is no cure, but you can check out some websites for info about it.Did your fish get more pale? Was it restless? Those are some symptoms.

Might have been neon tetra disease. The symptoms are...
-cyst,lumps,bulges(white)
-restlessness
-loses colouration
-Doesn't school with others
-Spine bends(only in extreme cases)

Hope this helped and sorry that your fish died..
