Last weekend we added 2 more neons tetras to our planted, tall/round 6-gallon tank with 3 existing neons that had been there for 6+ weeks.

The fish were all apprehensive but after about a day they all began to hang out and school together. It's quite cute.

This morning we noticed one of the newer fish acting strangely right after feeding time; being more aggressive than usual and looking very bloated, even a bit lumpy.

This afternoon all the fish were found hanging out together, acting normal. The previously bloated one was much less bloated, actually not at all, and not lookinh lumpy anymore. I actually saw this particular fish poop without issue; a little black capsule.

After the poop, this particular fish (same suspect from earlier this morning) started becoming agressive towards the other fish and headed towards the surface, swimming around looking for food, presumably. There was none.

Either this is the beginning of NTD, or this is one greedy fish: intimidating their tankmates and hogging the food.

Since we dont have a quarantine tank, how should we proceed and is this "normal" behavior?

Skipped feeding for 2 days and all fish look and behave fine... not sure if there is a problem or not but in the future I will have a quarantine tank handy for screening new fish and plants.
