Algae ?

I hope the provided picture is sufficient. Im curious if anyone is familiar with this algae, or knows what it is. It has been growing in the tank for a while, and if u cannot tell from the picture does not grow on the rock face, it spans a gap in the rock. It is very flat and seems to have structure to it. On the bottom there is a little hole almost like an entrance. Maybe its a nest? (you can see the hole sticking out right beneath the green mass)

Yep, i concur. Sponges always seem to take the weirdest shapes and forms, and they come and go as nutrients are available just as sadie said. I tell ya, i've seen some pretty weird looking sponges as well. :p

I've got the same thing in a few spots. Was wondering what it was. Looks like a wad of fluffed cotton.
