I just got the grouper (attached) yesterday, but forgot his name. What's interesting is that he's been changing colors... he's even been a white-ish color. Very strange, IMO. I hope he's OK. However, I want to research him a bit. He was very scared of the camera and seems somewhat stressed. My water is nearly perfect, so everything on that end is good.

I would describe him as being brown with blue spots. Very cool.

Any idea what his actual name is though?

Yea, I have a minatus in the tank already... he definitely is the meanest grouper out of the bunch. However, I can notice a big difference between the two... thanks for the input though!

Did I really stump everyone? LOL... I just want to know what my fish is... :(

The problem I'm having with trying to ID your fish (other than the fact I'm not familiar with groupers) is that it's a very young fish and doesn't have it's adult colors yet. Here are a few sites you can wade through to see if you find anything that looks/sounds familiar. Sorry I can't be of more help.

http://www.saltcorner.com/sections/zoo/groupers.htm
http://fishbase.org/ (just type grouper in the common name search, should get you a good many results)

why don't you give the LFS you got him from a call...they should be able to tell you what they sold you.
