I'm thinking of trying wine yeast. It is supposed to work better but cost more. Most people suggest sterilizing your 2L bottles between batches. But a few suggested reusing the yeast by not emptying all of the old stuff out.

Has anyone tried this?

I am hoping that the higher alcohol level reached with wine yeast will kill any bacteria that try to take over.

I'm not using wine yeast but I re-use all my DIY Co2 batches. Just pour out the liquid and the yeast is usually at the bottom and just refill sugar, water, protein powder, ammonium sulfate (yeast nutrient), and one is good to go again. You can add molasses as well.
