This is a 55g that Ive had for years.
Took it up a notch and did a DIY background.
NOW IM HOOKED ON DIY!
This pic shows goldfish in it (for bio start) but it is a cichlid tank.

Thanks.
Did another one that someone actually bought.
Finishing up a 10g amphibian/reptile tank.
Also working on a 70g cichlid tank.

so, how much did it cost you in the end for everything used in this DIY background? i know that it costs more to buy one online, i just want to know what the budget is for something like yours

cost

Ive done 4 aquariums, two 10's a 55 and a 70. I've used almost 1.5 gallons of drylok (latex) with some left over. $22 a gallon at lowes (HAD 2 gallons)

Bought 3 bottles of quikrete color. $6 to $7 a bottle at home depot.

Three cans of Great stuff spray foam. About $5 a can.

I use old styrofoam coolers and pieces. Get them from a friend---FREE.

Exacto knives and all... roughly $75 total for 4 backgrounds with drylok and colors left over.

forgot silicone

I forgot the most important supply needed!
GE SILICONE 1
About $7 a tube.
So total? Roughly $100 for four displays with supplies left over.
