How to de rim 10g

I've recently acquired a clip on Finnex and going to save it for a future build or redo of my Betta tank. I want to de rim a 10g. I've heard it's easy but no idea how to do it. It's just a standard 10g tank.

Follow up with a new, clean and sharp razor blade to remove bulk silicone and probably acetone to wipe the rest away

You can use extra silicone if you are unsure of its stability. Small tanks are usually fine to go rimless though.
