Just set up a new tank last night and i am looking to stock it with plants what plants would you recommend for each part carpet mid and the back of the tank

Dimensions of the tank? Exact light set up?

For the front I would stick to:
True sagittaria subulata
Micro/chain sword
Hydrocotyle tripartita
Marsilea hirsuta
hemianthus micranthemoides
Crypt parva
Crypt lutue
Crypt pigmea

For midground:
Java fern, any kind
Anubias, any kind
Larger swords
Any other crypts (excluding giant crypts/spiralis)
Dwarf red tiger lotus
bucephalandra, any kind

For background:
Vallisneria
Hellanthium
Lloydellia
Rotala rotundifolia
Ludwigia repens
Hygrophila polysperma (if it’s legal in your area)
Crinum
Apongeton
Large crypts like spiralis

Add any mosses you wish as well.

These are all fairly low light plants and considerably easy to care for

36" x 18" x 24" and currently i am just running leds i am waiting a few weeks to get a new set of lights.

Depends how much light you want and your budget....

Check out fluval fresh and plant 2.0 or fluval plant 3.0

Maybe 2 x 36” beamswork DA-FSPEC.

2, 3 or 4 x 36” T5-HO (depending on how much light you want).

Finnex planted + 24/7 cc

Current satellite led plus pro

Those are all good options, and fairly priced.

Keep in mind you have 18” front to back. The fluval lights have 120 degree lenses, so 1 is probably enough, T5’s will work well, the others don’t quite have the spread front to back, so you may need 2 or some sort of supplemental light ....

I had 200 watts of power compact light over my 65 gallon, and I still couldn't grow higher light plants, I didn't need CO2. The depth and width of the tank makes it require a lot. I would think 2 beamsworks could grow low light. 1 DA-FPEC = 40 PAR @ 24", but front to back may need the second... If budget is tight, I would go with a beamswork try some plants out, add a second if needed. Or buy a more expensive unit and dim it down.
