The hood on my 29 gallon broke and I am starting a great new job this week soooo .... Hehe.

I only want to increase the light a little. It's a Marineland led hood. I absolutely don't want an ugly plastic hood, shop lights, etc.

One thought was to get a glass lid and another light like the one that lifts out of the Marineland hood. Right now I'm pushing it, growing some medium light plants in the center where the light is most intense. That also means my plants are organized by light needs not what looks good.

That's $65 or so. Any other ideas? Simple DIY is ok, I have few tools little knowledge and tons of klutziness. Is having acrylic cut to size cheaper than buying a hinged class canopy?
