How many plecos can you have in a 40 tall? I kinda want to collect a few different types.
 
Maybe one, or a pair, that's not a lot of floor space and they can get territorial.

Yeah I have 2 bristlenose in there and they are doing great but I wanted to get one or 2 more. I agree, not enough floor space
 
Yah... I wouldn't, good reason to get a new tank though!!
What kinds you wanting to get into? Some stay relatively small and some get huge, one of my bn is massive, at least 6". Only a year old ?!?!

Just smaller types. I really want a gold nugget pleco and maybe a vampire pleco. The thing is, I just set this tank up from my 10 gallon a month or so ago lol
 
So I'm gonna keep this one for awhile. I'm gonna upgrade to 75 gallons eventually
 
I've got a vampire, they live up to their names... not the sucking blood part either..

My rams and platys just died from some unknown disease. I just have to bristlenose and one rosey red minnow now
 
Gonna wait awhile before adding any new fish. Probably a month
