Pond Snails!!!

Interesting arangement. Why so much biomedia? The tank will only support as much bacteria as the water can feed them (ammo,no2, no3, etc.). The rest of the biomedia would go unused (more or less) wouldn't it?
 
Volume means stability. There may be the same amount of bacteria but I've probably completely maximized the amount of bacteria I could possibly support in my tank and have room to spare. Even large changes in bioload do not change my water parameters. I've added over 6 fish at once (to this 20 gallon) before with no noticeable change in water quality...at least testable with our kits.
