Eel with megaflows?

Going to a FOWLR system, aggressive tank. Considering an eel. I've owned a couple snowflakes and a zebra so I'm aware of their needs - but, I've never had a reef ready tank. My new 125g will be reef ready, do I need to somehow eel proof the overflows? I'm I wrong to assume one could get in there and possibly in the plumbing depending on their size?

I would use screening to prevent attempts through and over the top of the overflow teeth.
