I bought a 20 gal aquarium to use as a DIY sump, but what could I use for baffles? (easier the better) And would I actually have to attach (adhesive) to the tank or can they be a little loose? (slide up and down is what I'm thinking)

Go to the hardware store and get some .25" acrylic cut about 1/8" shorter than the ID of the tank. This gap will allow you to slide your baffles snugly into the tank and you can them get some aquarium silicone and seal them up. The silicone needs about 7 days to cure before it can get wet.

7 days... thats a bit long, when the smell goes away its cure, I have had things in water in about 15 hours. Keep it in a warmer area, the warmer the better (it will cure faster).

and make sure its acrylic, NOT plexiglass, plexi will yellow over time and eventually get too brittle and crack, and its only a few dollars cheaper.

So will aquarium silicone adhere glass to acrylic? (the 20 gal tank is glass)
