Eggcrate under sand bed?

' any tips on installing eggcrate as a precaution to protect the tank bottom from falling rocks?
I'm planning about a 2" sand bed and app 300lbs of live rock in a 210 gal tank
Do I just cut the eggcrate and place it flat on the bottom of the tank?
' then put sand on top? Should I worry about any sharp edges contacting the silicone seals? Should I leave some space between the eggcrate and the glass/sides?

Yep just cut it to fit and place it flat on the bottom. I don't think you'll have a tight enough fit to worry about the edges poking the silicone. But if you are worried you can leave some space.
