Enough lighting for soft and hard corals?

I have a 30 gallon tank 30" long 11.5-12" wide, and i have a JBJ Formosa [acronym:0edb13adab="Power compact fluorescent"]PC[/acronym:0edb13adab] Hood 65. (watts http://www.windowtothesea.com/displa...=305&item=1999 you can see the lighting system under lighting and there is a pic of it there on the website) and i was wondering if i had good enough lighting to put in hard and soft corals. And if i cant i have looked at metal halide light fixture, but non of them are 30" long all of them are 36" long. Can i get a 36" long metal halide hood and put it on my 30 gall?

I would upgrade to a [acronym:c8858adaf0="Metal halide light"]MH[/acronym:c8858adaf0]. I think you'd be okay with some soft corals, but no [acronym:c8858adaf0="Large polyped Scleractinian (stoney) coral"]LPS[/acronym:c8858adaf0] or [acronym:c8858adaf0="Small Polyped Stoney"]SPS[/acronym:c8858adaf0]. Check up the HQI [acronym:c8858adaf0="Metal halide light"]MH[/acronym:c8858adaf0] setups, you might have better luck with those.

Coralife makes a 150 watt HQI fixture that will clip on the back of your tank so you can place it on just about any size tank. Wish I could remember the name of it but it's pretty new.
