Filter Question

I recently setup a 55 gal FW tank. Question is..........is my Magnum 220 adequate filtration for tyis tank? I only have 3 Clown Loaches, 1 YO YO Loach, 3 Tiger Barbs and 3 Headlite Tetras. I am having a high nitrite problem that water changes doesn't seem to be curing.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried testing the tap water for high nitrites?

My speculation is that your tap water has high nitrites or your tank is still cycling.

How long has your tank been set up?

Are you familiar with the nitrogen cycle?

FYI Scooby, my 55 gallon took ~32 days for the nitrites to come down, and I was only running it with 7 zebra danios for the cycling period.
