I currently have a 10 gallon set up with heat lamps, but the water is still lingering low around 74 degrees. I have two mixed fruit serpa tetras and a male feeder guppy (temporary). I currently use a Tetra 2-10 heater in my other 10 gal, but I've heard mixed reviews about them. The people who said it failed told me that it would either zap the tank and short out, or the thermostat would stick and literally cook the tank. I'm looking to upgrade to some more expensive freshwater stock eventually, and I can't be taking 100% losses because a junk heater decides to go crazy. Suggestions are welcome!

50w aqueon or even better aqueon pro.

Other good brands fluval M series or eheim jäger.

Avoid eBay no-name or cobalt blue.
