Where in a canister filter do you place a water pillow in order to soften the water...?I have a marineland 350...

After testing,my water is extremely hard&almost 30 times what is comfortable for my fish...gonna try the water pillow.

Assortment of Malawi cichlids.. did a water change adding five g's of ro water&added a water pillow to help bring down the hardness..ideal is between 10-15&after testing was 240...

Sorry for the wait, but you may be going down the wrong path. Africans like high ph, hardness and alkalinity. If your hardness is at 100-150 that is to low. I keep them at 240 +, and they do great with fantastic colors. Water pillow is not needed.
