Acclimating to 2x150W HQIs soon from 192w PC. I've heard two schools of thought on the acclimation process, one involves lowering the lights a little each day and the other involves starting out with a small photoperiod and increasing a half hour each day... which one works better? i'd prefer to do the photoperiod thing as my lights will be rigged up in such a way that raising/lowering will be difficult. also, i've got green nepthea near the top of the tank (about 3 inches down). i'm thinking of shooting for the halides about 12" from the top of the tank (15" or so from the nepthea) - will the nepthea have a hard time with the intense light, even with proper acclimation?

There is a great article in the "Articles" section on photo-acclimation at the top of the page. Using screens to difuse the light is about the best option.
