Pan World NH-100PX fan?

Anyone have any ideas on how to remove the fan on the back of the motor? I got the little C clip off but the fan won't budge. (It's too loud for my taste so I'm gonna mod it and install a new one) It seems to be rusted on or something...

Also, is using Vaseline on the O rings a bad idea? (for the fish and tank inhabitants)
