Bought one of those 6-stage RO/DI units from filterdirect on ebay. Shipped for $112. Awesome unit! Tests from base water to output water showed excellent results and the price is very, very good.

I received the lead from this forum (thank you!!) so I thought I would add another data point.

Good to hear! I love mine. It saves me Soooo much money, not from the water cost, but from not going to the LFS as much.

I have been looking for an RO-DI unit on ebay, is this a good deal

http://cgi.ebay.com/Reverse-Osmosis-6-Stage-DI-Water-Filter-R1006C_W0QQitemZ4414022510QQcategoryZ20684QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

what unit did you get?
thanks, its good to hear that someone got a good unit off ebay because i have always been hesitant to buy one off there.
any help would be appreciated.

lower11, that's the same manufacturer I bought except I bought the R100 and this is the R106 (although it says R1006, I believe it's R106)...anyhow this is the unit I bought:

I think they're identical execpt for the newer, clear housings for the duals DI's on top. I like the clear housings for the DI's because I can see when the media contracts (they call it "channeling") and needs refilling. That's important. Otherwise, you won't be able to tell without constant testing. HTH, good luck!

runway,

thanks for your help, actually got the same one you got today off ebay.
cant wait to get it!!!! 95bucks + shipping is not to bad.

1brent1, that unit fills my 5 gal jug in about 60-90 minutes. If you're doing a weekly, 15%, PWC, then you would run it for about 8 hours to get your water. Probably another 4 hours for your top off water. I'm setting up a 120 gal and that unit will work fine for me.

So with that, you can decide.

I put a adjustable valve on my RO/DI and it runs 24/7 dripping in my sump. Keeps the water level and SG perfect and no need for a auto top off. Of course this would not work with a small tank. I loose around 7 gallons a day to evaporation. HTH
