I purchased a replacement Marineland Penguin 150 with BIO-Wheel, and I would like some thoughts on what to do with the new BIO-Wheel. Is there a way to condition it, so to speak, while phasing out the old one? Is the old one the better way to go?

Thanks for any quick advice!

Tank fully cycled? If not you could place the old on in the tank since it holds BB and install the new one in the filter

I like to leave all as is and just put new one in tank for a week or so and then change them.

Tank is fully cycled and has 4 long fin tetras. All chemical levels are good.

Hibiscusmile, when you say put a new one in the tank, do you mean the whole filtration system (so two are running for a week) or just a new BIO-Wheel? I was thinking of just floating the new BIO-Wheel in the tank for a week or two before swapping them out, but only keeping 1 filter pump.
