IMAG2395.jpgI found some goodies, Finally! Needs some scrub cleaning and soaking, and boiling. Alittle big to boil in a kitchen pot. How to cure it without breaking it all up? I would like to keep a few pieces the way they are. This is going in a 75 gallon.
 
Baking them could work.Set oven to 300 and when it reaches temp shut it off and place wood in.
Boiling can accelerate the release of tannins which can cause trouble when introduced to a tank lacking tannins and the quick change.
I never boil wood..Most of what might be living in it will not survive under water...
 
Very true. I know it would bring my ph level down to were I want it to be too. So think I'll try it. My plecos are gonna love it. I'll scrub them with a brush with hot water and put them in the oven and try it. Sounds good. Thanks!
