I've heard of cases where mollies and guppies interbreed, but can they also interbreed with platys and swordtails? Which ones are compatible?

Mollies and guppies can cross breed with each other but not with platys or sword tails. Platys and sword tails can cross breed with each other. If a female molly and male guppy breed you can get viable offspring. If a female guppy and male molly cross the guppy will more than likely die because the babies will be too big for her to carry. If any live they are more than likely sterile or not healthy.

Do you know how old/how large livebearers have to be before they are of breeding age?

They can breed at around 4 to 6 months. However, it is best to wait till they are at least 6 months or a little older to breed. Being pregnant takes a lot out of the girl and she will not grow any bigger after being pregnant. It is better to wait until they get to full size. It is also best to limit the number of pregnancies if you can. I know with live bearers that is hard to do.
