How can you tell if my oto is prego?
not sure if its a girl or not but it sure is a fatty big ol round belly

That means its healthy, not that its pregnant. Oto's lay eggs which means they don't get fat when they breed. However a plump oto indicates a healthy eating oto.

Sure, here is some information on it:

It is incredibly rare and very difficult to breed the Otocinclus in captivity.

Seriously though. I've heard of it being done, but mostly they are all wild caught. Here is an article on the procedure but there isn't a lot of info on making it happen.

I've had my otos spawn only once and none of the eggs survived. It was fun watching them spawn though. I understand you'll have more success if there are several males for each female.

Yeah i have about 10 otos in there tho cant tell female from male
some of them are FAT and healthy there all really really active love to stick together

Oto females are usually longer and bigger around than the males. You may have one or two females there.

When mine bred it was a few days after I brought them home from the LFS and added them to my 30 gallon planted tank. It may have been the change in water parameters that caused their behavior. Whether that was a temperature change or something else I can't say.
