How long does it usually take before they start showing signs of sexual maturity?

Usually when the get to be 1" or so I've had them mate. Usually about 3-6 months IME.

Ah, I didn't mean mating. Actually I meant how long until I can tell male or female.

Around the same age, 3 to 6 months the males will start showing there double anual fins.

Just got to find a way to neuter and spay them now.

ROFL I thought you were wanting to breed them. You should be able to start determining sex around 3 months.
