the guy at the aquarium store told my husband we could easily have ten fish in our aquarium, and my husband bought four more! 2 blue gouramis, a gold gourami, and a white-with-black-speckles molly.

they are beautiful, though. i'll post pictures when they're in their new home.

i have a question, though, i am curious about the behaviour of my gouramis. the gold one and the blue one keeps chasing a the other blue around. it's the biggest fish. my husband thought maybe it was the female?

Gouramis are not supposed to be more than one male to tank unless there are like three females per male from what I understand. Check out LiveAquaria.com

there are two females. maybe they are feeling crowded in their tank. they'll be moving to their bigger home soon.

i'll keep an eye out for bubble nests, then.

right now they are in a 20 gallon, but they will be transferred to a 55 gallon with the other tankmates about this time tomorrow. no pictures yet, not until the move. two of them have rounded bellies and top fins, one is slender. according to about.com that makes it 2 females and a male.

Wow! Already potentially (if not already) overstocked! The Koi and Comets will grow large enough to warrant a much larger tank or small pond.

Yeah, you could potentially see some problems between some Gouramis.

4 gouramis in a 20g tank just a bad idea even if they were the only fish in there, from my experience.

Gouramis are semi aggressive and there is not enough room for them to get away from each other.. If there are two males , good chance one will be dead with in days..

chile, blame the husband and the guy at the aquarium store. i already told him we need to figure out what to do with the koi. husband's hard headed, though.

i don't know what species of pleco it is. i do know i've had him for about 7 or 8 months now and he hasn't really grown much beyond 3"

probably , as long as there is only one male.. and make sure there are hiding places for the females to get away from the male if he does not settle down. Once you get them into the bigger tank , they will be distracted and stop.. but the male will claim his territory. Their unpredictable.

they're about 1½" right now.

they'll be in their new bigger habitat in about two hours.

well the fish have all been moved into the 55 gallon. the gouramis are grouping, but there isn't any harassment like in the other tank. thanks for the help!

So all these fish, plus the three new Gouramis and new Molly, are in your 55gal?

No question about it, the Koi/Comets will have to go, sooner or later, but go they will. They're not suitable for 55gal as adults.

Slap your hubby up side the head with a reality check and keep him away from the LFS.
