Depends on the type of tank. Do you have pics? Personally I prefer black. =]

Welcome to AA by the way! If anyone helps you out be sure to add to their rep points. ^^

I would choose either dark blue or black. I used to have an image and did not like it, and it was blue. I think that black will almost always look best.

Black looks best IMO. My 125 is painted light blue and I hate it. I will be scraping it off soon and painting it black. The designs take away from the tank IMO

I prefer solid black. HN1 and I paint our tanks. Krylon Fusion is great for this.

I actually just changed my background from blue to a picture. It looks a lot better in my tank. (I posted pics on another thread.) I think it depends on what else you have going on in your tank, and what your preferences are. :)

Painting sounds pretty permanent.. So if you aren't super sure what you want you could always get them at the store. The kind I use just gets taped to the back of the tank- so you can change it a few times and decide what you like best. They aren't too expensive.
But other folks here might have better advice if you'd rather paint yours.
Good luck!

Paint is not really permanent. You can use a glass razor(?), the same one that you use to clean algae to scrape off the paint.

So should i paint it or buy it from the store??

I like the idea of paint, but if you decide you don't like it, you gotta scrape it off.

I going to get some automotive tint and see how that looks on my DT. My GF has some wrapping paper with a design she likes and I'll use photo mount to glue it to on some hard board for her GSP tank.

The above posts make a lot of sense. The issue, most importantly, boils down to what you like. Experiment with paper backgrounds and as a bonus you will be good at installing the backgrounds as they are not the easiest to install. :)

Ya in just gonna go with a black paper background so if I don't like it i can always change it

Forget the 2d flat background. Get a 3d internal background. They look a lot better. I got mine here:
Designs by Nature

A few other places sell them too.

How about just white as a background. Although not the greatest looking, it would reflect the light more...
