20 gallon. am i stocked? cuz i really want guppies!!

1 mystery snail
1 african dwarf frog
3 ghost cats
3 mollies
1 dwarf gourami

i dont think so,but you might wanna look into getting more catfish,im pretty sure they like groups of 6+

i would say yes youre stocked i would consider an upgrade or lose the mollies or the glass catfish and i would go with the ADF, mollies, and the dwarf gourami imo

they definatly want a group of 6 but if you do that i would do the catfish and gourami alone again imo then watch the boiload id if dosent get too dirty slowly add some mollies

Maybe you could trade the mollies in for some guppies. Guppies are smaller and produce less waste so u could have more than 3. They prefer to be in schools too.

Ghost cats can go with a min of 3 I no if you only have one it won't do well. In the wild they are probably found schooling with like 10 at a time at least.

my ghost cats seem to be adjusting well.. they are eating and mingling with the other fish..so for now im going to stick with the 3 and see how that works. My filter is Aqueon.
If I get rid of my mollies is that considered bad practice with fish??? I would really like to keep them.. if i got 2 guppies and did frequent wter changes would that be suffeiciant?

What is the dimensions of hour tank just the length and width

length 24 in
width 16 in

or maybe i said that backwards. ?? it would be 16 in deep. 24 in long.. sorry...

I dont no what type of bioload a frog has but I'd say your stocked if not close to. Try using aqadviser.com it's not a for sure method but it gives you an idea

hobgob- Tried that website.. sadly they dont have ghost cat fish in there list so I dont know for sure.. In fact, I didnt understand alot of the language on the site. ALso-not sure if you use the site or not.. but i went to the forum section...and there was lots of posts related to pornography...is this site any good/??

Missie, that forum is full of spam, so avoid and just stay with the calculator.

Also, Ghost Cats are another name for Glass Cats.

-JD-

Ive been doing research online... it seems glass cats and ghost cats are not the same...although i havent figured out whats makes them different yet besides the name...

also- I know my filter is aqueon brand but on the site i dont know which aqueon filter is the one that i have..
any suggestions??

it is just another name i have researched them as well they are in fact the same fish Its not bad fish practice to return a fish just the opposite you made a mistake and learned from it :) and are finding them a proper home but i would say you can sick with what you have if the ghosts are happy just keep up on your pwc and testing water and let us know how things go

what would you recommend for water changes...?? how often? how much? sorry for the basic question just want to do it the right way :)

Never looked at the forums before but wow some sites just don't get controlled enough. And ghost and glass cats are the same. Many fish have like 3 names for them. Also if by some chances they aren't then it will be fine to use because they would have close to the same bioload and everything else.

wow! great! according to the site im only 67 % stocked.. maybe in a few weeks if all is well i can get a few guppies afterall! :)

They're actually not the same. True glass cats are rare and are called kryptopterus bicchiris. The glass cats sold in pet stores are kryptopterus minor. Although they are still called glass cats on aq advisor, they only get to 3" instead of 6".
