I have a angel with Camallanus worms, a MM platy with a large hole in his head and my gorgeous GBR has a big black spot thing on her side. I really need some help here, I have no ideas whats going on in my tank. I'm planning on doing a pwc asap in them morning.

Now my female platy MM platy has white circles (not ich) on her fins and the GBRs tail is rimmed in white. Its a 20 gal, I dont have a test kit so I will have to run out to the lfs to gets the parameters checked.

The angelfish are juvies and they will get there own tank once it cycles. Problem resolved. Plus I have been on here forever and no one else has said I'm overstocked. Even a few people said I should get cories but I don't feel comfortable with that many fish. Plus you don't know what type of filter I have.

It's not a long or a tall, its really weird. Theres no way its a tall ,its really thick, but not a long.

Ok, I would get your water tested as soon as possible, and pics of the fish would help diagnose. For the mean time, do daily pwc's to keep the water as clean as possible

Okay, thanks. I am almost positive the Platy has Head and Lateral Line Erosion and maybe the GBR has a heater burn?? I'll try and get pics, I'll have to take them on my phone though because I lost my camera at a horse show. I was just treating with Tetra Parasite Clear fizzing tablets, not sure if that has anything to go with it or if I should throw a half dose in to just make sure the Platy doesn't get an infection.

I wouldn't medicate anything until you know for sure with what you have to treat, but that's just my opinion

Okay....I'll see if another person jumps in with a opinion then I'll decide wither to put it in or not. I really hope I can fix everyone or I'll be left with one angelfish.

Whats your water change schedule like? I've never heard of HITH in a platy like that, but from what I've read it's related to nitrate buildup i.e. lack of water changes.

Levamisole for camallanus worms, and I'm not sure about the other stuff without pics it is hard to say, but it sounds like you have serious water quality issues. Often times fish will spring up with all kinds of things when the water quality goes downhill because their bodies can't fight them off as easily.

I do a once weekly water change , 25-35%. Last week or the week before I did changes every other day because I sick with them flu was bored! My water should be fine! Ill do a water change and hope it helps. Should I add salt for the GBRs fins?

Start treating ASAP with pimafix and aquarium salt. Pimafix will control the worms and fungal infections, which is mostly your problem, and salt will help heal some of the fin damage. Also, you'll need to up your weekly water change schedule to at least 50% weekly. 25-35% isn't cutting it obviously :) good luck!

Thanks Homedog. Not sure I've ever seen Pimafix at my lfs but I will look for it. I have salt on hand so ill throw that in now. Should I move my cory or half dose it? Maybe ill try doing pwcs every other night. My fish looked a lot happier when I was doing it and I could probably make time for it at night. I even have a bunch of platy fry in there and they are swimming around happy as can be and the adults are sick, would have thought the fry would be more touchy.

Definitely move the cories if you can.

I don't think pimafix is going to get rid of camallanus worms, but I've never tried it.

When it comes to treating your fish, research is key. Start googling information on these afflictions and treatments for them to get a good idea of what direction to go in. There are some writeups with photos that prove invaluable when trying to ID a problem as well.

Hey, it's worth a shot. And it should help with the platy as well.

I searched every where for help on IDing the female platy problem and GBR but I didn't find anything. I'm going to try and get pics for you guys.

I am really worried about the Platy with HITH, he is lethargic and just seems to have given up. I don't think he is going to make it through the night. HUKIT sent me a awesome link on it and I just need to keep the Nitrates under 10ppm and give him a good quality diet. There are a lot of other reasons that can lead to HITH other then bad water quality but it is the leading cause, and water quality would have to be bad for a while for him to get that way so I don't think it was that, it can also be diet or carbon but nothing has been proven.

Everyone but the HITH platy seems to feel a little spunkier now that I did a PWC. I just wish there was something I could do to make him feel better.
