no reef. too much to light it properly. aggressive idk peaceful probably. IF we do i know i want an aussy tusk. we kinda looked on la last night together and found a bunch of fish that we like. just dont know if they would all get along.

Sweet add... I loved my chiclids, but nothing is like SW. Not trying to offend anyone. Just my opinion.
im partial to the cichlids. its a hard decision. ive been thinking about it ever since i was made to downsize. and then once they are gone we will only have saltwater tanks. your right there is something about saltwater thats kinda like a cleaner high than fw. maybe, just maybe. if we do the 125 i may grab a couple rams for the 20 gallon that has been used for everything other than what we bought it for.

I've said this a thousand times but....
I love the simple beauty of FW but I also love the complex beauty and movement of SW. I like the idea of fowlrs because of all the fish you can't put in a reef. Like Angels<3

+1000 to the aussie tusk...granted its expensive but its worth every cent.. as you know mines still an ugly duckling juvenile and Im still over the top happy I pulled the trigger on him.

firefish or purple firefish? any conflicts with my wanted stocking of

6 line wrasse
flame angel
2 clowns
mandarin

existing:
flame hawk
banggai
lawnmower blenny.

how many is too many for this tank? im trying to figure out what and who to keep in this tank and have an elegant and appealing tank thats not just some of this and a little of that.

I like the purple firefish better. Mine doesn't swim around much, but he is always out where you can see him. I just think they are more colorful.

less than 200 on la jodi. glad your still following brent. what and how do you feed your lion?

ive got a list of 18 fish. my wrist turned into mush tonight so ill list them all tomorrow hopefully when i can type with both hands. [moderator edit] brake job on a dump truck at work aggravated the worst of my sprained ones. thats what i get for being stubborn and never giving them time to heal. oh well.

as long as he hangs out in front of the rock work he should fit in nicely.

you would think that i would have had this stocking sorted all out by now. i dont want to over stock but i think i can push it a bit. skimmer is rated for 150gallon and the sump volume is almost the same as my dt. dsb in both.

My volitan is by far the easiest fish to feed. (Atleast out of my tank) I bought Sally's frozen silversides, cut one in half and soak in hot water for 3-4 minutes... then drop ot in the water in front of my lion... he's to the point where when I feed him, he comes up and hovers about 3" below the surface waiting. The tusk is the fun one when it comes to eating...in less than 2 weeks he's gone from hiding to poking the top of his head out the water waiting for food...in another week ill have him handfeeding :) psssst-- Jesse get a tusk!

Saltwater Aquarium Fish for Marine Aquariums: Harlequin Tusk

on sale for 169 but for how long idk. get one get one!!!

hey jodi do you have a purple tang? how does he get along with everyone else. la has him listed as aggressive. most the fish on my list for the rumored 125 are semi and one or two maybe 4 are peaceful

Not yet. He's being added next. Found that guy on Craigslist selling his. It's 4-5 inches and he's selling it for 80$ (a really good deal). From what I have read they are very aggressive. But one way to drop aggressiveness when adding a new tang is to change your rockwork. If their old stomping ground is no longer there- they have nothing to claim dominance per and both fish will be technically in a new environment.

Brent, do you feed him daily? Every other? What do you feed your tusk? And how often? If/when we do the 125 idea for sure the tusk.

No triggers are on the list. Oddly only 1 tang if that

Jodi

I'm sure this is down the line if at all so maybe by then you will have your purple tang If u don't mind keeping us updated on how he acts with your tank

Oh and the two bags of pods+ from reefcleaners has done a wonderful job of seeding the tank. I can see some on the glass. Some days more than others. I also now have a hermit in a snail shell. He spent the better part of a week eating the snail.

I have a 125g with cichlids and it's hard to choose somedays which is best. lol I don't know what I'd do if we had to rehome our FW babies. lol In fact, our cichlids are outgrowing the 125g so it's been agreed that we are upgrading them to a 180 or a 220g. Nice, but I almost kinda wish i could be counting on that size tank for a reef. But theres something to be said for watching the cichlids, they are some awesome fish.....

I love cichlids. There so aggressive but when they swim there so peaceful and kind of majestic looking.

Mine are like little puppy dogs. They see my B/F and instantly swarm the tank looking for food. lol everytime he gets near the tank in fact. Poor hungry fishies...some are really really big, maybe 6 or 7 inches and we grew them from baby size, less than an inch in some cases. Can't tell ypu how many times I wish I had that tank as my reef...LOL But I can't diss the cichlids, they were my first fish in years and started me on my MTS adventure.....

I may have mine crowded but I wouldn't call mine aggressive. Grumpy sometimes, but they usually finish "fighting" just as fast as they got [Moderator edit] off. Love the color flashing. About to talk myself back out of changing the tank.

NOOOO!!!!! Think about the sps... And the Lps waving in the current... And the tangs speeding thru the rock work....

Ha. Mine swarm too. Sweety pies tank does the same thing! All I was doing was putting a movie in and they think it's feeding time.

Mine aren't really aggressive either, a little high strung sometimes but overall very sociable. I have some that chase each other but again like you said, they usually only do it for a short time and then go back to the normal behavior.

How long have you had the cichlids? Are you guys not really attached to them? Are you going to just bring them to the lfs for credit or actually rehome them ?
