I still haven't had the opportunity to buy more plants, but my wisteria is really taking over, I could almost have a tank of just wisteria!

That's what I hate about the plant. It always sucked the K right out of my tank. No matter how much more I added, it always seemed like I had a major K defeficiency. Once I took it all out, it was smooth sailing.

Its a 29 gallon. K you mean potassium?

I am afraid that it is too bushy and blocking light from some if my other plants. I need to find a background plant that grows tall and not bushy. And something that doesn't suck all the nutrients.
It is really pretty, but it does seem like my other plants aren't growing to their full potential.

I haven't seen anything that I like at any of the pet stores around here.

they do get bushy. that was what my problem before. I only have smaller tanks and they take over the 5 and the 10Gs. I didn't have my 20G then.

I have it in my 5 gallon tanks as well and the bettas love them. I've never had a plant that grows so fast and crazy. I'm definitely going to have to start replacing with slower growing plants.

Does anyone know if water sprite is any better or does it take over as well?

Heck ill trade you some hornwort for some wisteria!!

My wisteria went from one small plant to floating over 2/3 of my 100 gallon tank.It was blocking the light from reaching the plants at the bottom.

I found scissors are the best way to control it. I cut it back to a small plant about every month.

Lol who does? Hornwort is the only plant i have too much of;)

Plus, it matched your description of a backround plant you wanted

I dont think it is possible for hornwort to die...lol

mine def is in the process of dying; nothing but stems left after a years attempt to add them to my tank with wisteria :S

ashley and gboy, if you want to sell your wisteria and hornwort, please let me know. I am in MA though so it needs to be shipped.

I'm a big fan of hornwort too. My platies love it and my shrimp tank is full of it. If you get too much, don't throw it away. I'll pay for shipping to send it to me.

Really? Sheesh, wish i had been told this last month lol. This was my tank. Everything floating is hornwort haba

Let me clarify, I want a tall growing background plant that won't take over my tank, and that won't suck all of the nutrients before the other plants can get some. :)
