String Algae help

I am wondering how you folks get rid of or clean this string algae that has taken over my tank. Subsequent of these photos I had to get rid of my plants as the algae was killing the plant ,choking it out. This was my first tank ever with real plants and I really enjoy the experience but do not want this type of algae present I know I can live with a little bit of algae as my snails and plecos eat it off the back wall but the string algae is a different story, no animal seems to want to eat it
