A friend of mine offered to give me a 75g tank that he is upgrading in March with his tax money. I get the whole setup. Filters, lights, heaters, decor. Saves me ALOT of money that I do not have. He is the same friend that was going to take my 2 kenyi cichlids from me to avoid aggression issues.

However, if I have a 75g tank, will the kenyi's be ok in there with 4 other african's? 2 are labs (mine) and the other 2 I am unsure of. They are currently in my brother-in-laws goldfish tank :(

do the kenyi fight with eachother? i would suggest getting some female kenyi, or just upping the numbers to at least five, i could see problems between kenyi and labs, maybe try stocking up the tank and adding the kenyi last, with a few more female kenyi. your gonna want to overstock, so i would say at least 20 fish in there, it will help with a lot of your aggression issues.

I believe both of my Kenyi are female. And they dont fight. They never leave each others side.

Wow, 20 fish? I was expecting like 10 max. :)

Well you could do ten. But overstocking the tank is really recommend with mbuna, it's give or take around 20 depending on the species of course and you will also need to over filter, my tank has 25 fish, I may be a little too overstocked but as long as you keep good water conditions and your fish are happy its fine :) everyone gets lost in the crowd and I have no aggression issues other then two of my mainganos that both want to be the boss haha :)

Thanks for the info. Over filtering wont be an issue as I generally over filter anyways. I like my fish to have good clean water :)

In my current tank, i have 6 fish... 2 yellow labs, 2 kenyi, 1 albino zebra and 1 unidentified (I think it may be a male kenyi) and the labs rule the tank. They get the best hiding spots and are quick to let everyone else know who's boss :)

I keep 12 demasoni, 4 zebras, 10 labs, 1 syndontis, and 1 pleco in my 75 gallon. Never any ammo. Im really well filtered though.

I always forget about my pleco when i mention my tanks stock. I have a 2 inch bristlenose but hardly ever see him :)

yeah i have a common hes about ten inches long lol and a major poop machine.

I read somewhere that kenyi cichlids eat algae so I might just re-home my bristlenose to my wife's 25 gallon tank.

actually most mbuna are algae eaters, but they dont do such a great job at cleaning up your tank when they are already being fed every day haha. i would say keep the bristlenose if you mostly have him in there for glass cleaning purposes

To be completely honest, I bought him because I love how they look, lol. The tank cleaning was just a bonus :)

that's why i have mine too, most people get them for cleaning tho haha but they're actually really cool looking fish!
